Day 2: CAIRO AT LEISURE
Welcome to Egypt. On arrival at Cairo Airport, you are met and transferred to one of the best hotels in Cairo, a palatial oasis in the middle of the bustling city. Your room overlooks the life giving waters of the River Nile.
Day 3: CAIRO SIGHTSEEING
Begin your discovery of this timeless land with a visit to the magnificent Pyramids of Giza and enigmatic Sphinx. Walk in the footsteps of Julius Caesar and Napoleon as you enter inside one of these extraordinary creations. Later, in Tahrir Square, gain an insight into the recent events of the 2011 Egyptian revolution. Now visit the Egyptian Museum, to see the treasure recovered from the Tomb of Tutankhamun. This evening attend a Sound and Light show at the Pyramids, which literally illuminates the history of Giza.(Buffet Breakfast)
Day 4: CAIRO – ASWAN – JOIN CRUISE
Board your plane for a morning flight across the Egyptian desert to Aswan. Visit the Aswan High Dam and the granite quarries, where one of Queen Hatshepsut’s obelisks lies abandoned in the bedrock. Then cross the Nile by motorboat to the well preserved Philae Island temple complex. Sail by traditional felucca sail boat around Kitchener Island. In the late afternoon, enjoy a colonial style high tea as the sun begins to set. Once on board one of the most stylish and spacious boats in Egypt, enjoy a typical Nubian folkloric show with live music.(Buffet Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)
Day 5: ON BOARD THE MS TOSCA
This morning is at leisure to relax or explore, or maybe take an optional excursion by air to visit the amazing temples of Abu Simbel? At lunchtime set sail. The Kom Ombo temple is a glorious sight as you approach by river. Unique in Egypt, it’s dedicated to both the falcon-headed Horus and the crocodile god, Sobek. Inside you’ll find hieroglyphs, pylons, friezes and even mummified crocodile remains. Now drift past irrigated fields and palm fringed villages to dock at Edfu. As evening falls join in the fun of an Egyptian dinner and galabeya party.(Buffet Breakfast / Lunch / Highlight Dinner)
Day 6: ON BOARD THE MS TOSCA
This morning explore the well preserved temple of Horus, dedicated to the Falcon God. Then sit back and observe everyday life in rural Egypt as you float down-stream to Luxor. On arrival, visit the temple of Luxor, lost for centuries beneath the streets of the town.(Buffet Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)
Day 7: LUXOR SIGHTSEEING – CAIRO
Across the Nile, to the west of the city, lies the necropolis of ancient Thebes. Stop for a photo of the Colossi of Memnon; these two giant seated figures of Amenhotep III once guarded his mortuary temple. Continue to the temple of Queen Hatshepsut, one of the rare female Pharaohs. In the nearby Valley of the Kings, the Egyptian kings planned to meet their Gods in the afterlife. See how when you visit some of their tombs. Return to Luxor to your final highlight, Karnak, the largest temple complex ever built by man. Walk through the avenue of Ram-headed sphinxes, past the statue of Rameses II, to the vast Hypostyle Hall, housing 134 giant decorated columns. Afterwards, transfer to the airport for your flight back to Cairo.(Buffet Breakfast)
Day 8: RETURN TO USA
Your tour concludes after breakfast today. You are transferred to Cairo Airport to board your onward flights.(Buffet Breakfast)
